Aurimas Stanevičius wins the first-ever OlyBet Vilnius Showdown title for €34,975
Lithuania’s capital Vilnius may now continue preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit, as summer’s second most important event is over. Over the nine days, the OlyBet Vilnius Showdown live poker festival attracted 474 unique players from 24 countries – from Australia to Grenada – who have bought-in into tournaments 1,798 times and shared a total prize pool of €473,003.
There were 15 title events, and players from four different countries won unique OlyBet Vilnius Showdown trophies. Yet, the most important trophy stays in Lithuania.
The €555 buy-in Main Event gathered 360 entries, including Lithuania’s top comedian Mantas Katleris and hip-hop star OG Version. Local pro Aurimas Stanevičius rose against all odds to end up victorious. Aurimas was one of the shortest stacks among 19 players entering the final day. He reached the Final Table as an obvious chip outsider but managed to maneuver his way to the heads-up duel.
His opponent Dominykas Chrypa was another unlikely player to be there. Poker enthusiast satellited for the €555 Main Event via live €30 satellite and was living his poker dream with every moment at the Final Table. Two players agreed to a deal. More chips secured at least €31,500 for Aurimas, while Dominykas guaranteed himself €28,500. The play continued for an additional €3,475, the trophy, and the title, and Aurimas Stanevičius proved his superiority in the duel to finish at the top, bagging a total of €34,975.
After the end of the Main Event, the spotlight shifted to the €1,100 High Roller battle, which took place on the Midsummer weekend and gathered 59 entries. Slovenia’s Casey Kastle had a chance to win his second OlyBet Vilnius Showdown trophy as he began the series by taking down the €350 Opening Event. The poker veteran reached the High Roller Event heads-up, but after a long duel, he had to admit a defeat to local player Linas Jautakis, who bagged €18,880 for this win.
The OlyBet Vilnius Showdown festival may be over, but live poker summer in Baltics is just beginning. The next destination is Estonia, where on July 21st – 30th, hundreds of players will test their skills in the Kings of Tallinn Summer Showdown.
