Matias Siljander Wins Kings of Tallinn Autumn Edition Main Event (€130,300)
The final day of the inaugural 2024 Kings of Tallinn Autumn Edition at Olympic Park Casino and the adjoining Hilton Tallinn Park produced the biggest champions. Many players emotionally shared their tearful goodbyes to their teammates and friends, while competing for a final shot at Kings of Tallinn glory and the final chances at leaderboard points for the Team Competition.
Finland’s Matias Siljander was not only the star of the day but the star of the entire festival as he came back from a massive deficit during heads-up play against fellow Finn Elias Suhonen before storming back to victory in the €1,100 Main Event to win the huge €130,300 top prize. The action played out in front of a live-streamed audience, while Frank Visser was busy reporting the action on OlyBet.tv and provided the recap below about this epic event.
Meanwhile, Marius Bareisis shipped the two-day €3,000 NLH 6-Max for €47,930. The two-day event attracted 53 entries for a €140,980. You can read more about this event in the live blog provided by this author on OlyBet.tv.
Finland’s Teemu Toikkanen defeated Rasmus Lundstrom heads-up to win the one-day €555 NLH for €9,740 with 61 entries getting into the mix to create a €28,670 prize pool.
Meanwhile, another Finnish player won the two-day €350 PLO4/PLO5 Progressive Bounty with both Totti Arouso defeating Estonia’s Andres Abakanov to win the trophy. Both Arouso and Abakanov earned the €3,330 top prize with Arouso claiming the big bounty at the end of the event after eliminating his final opponent.
Meanwhile, the €150 Queens champion Indre Martoviciute-Kasten became the only player to win two trophies at the Kings of Tallinn Autumn Edition after she defeated Finland’s Jari Saviaho heads-up in the €150 Mini Main Event Hyper Turbo for €2,960 to cap off an amazing festival.
The online event at OlyBet Poker took place Saturday evening with Estonia’s Ralf Mikk defeating a field of 57 entries to win €2,545.

Siljander’s Epic Road to Victory in the Main Event
For many a poker player, winning a Main Event is the stuff of dreams. The glory, trophy, and of course the loads of cash that come with victory encapsulate everything a tournament player is after. However, for Matias Siljander it seemed to be just another day at the office at Olympic Park Casino. He sat down for his sixth Main Event final table at the venue, and, like he had done twice before, came out on top as the victor.
Siljander captured his first official Kings of Tallinn Main Event trophy at the Autumn Edition and won €130,300, his best-ever score and first six-figure one. He started his heads-up battle against fellow Finnish grinder Elias Suhonen with a one-to-six chip disadvantage but managed to turn it around to ultimately be crowned the champion.
Siljander and Suhonen were part of the same team in the iconic Kings of Tallinn team competition. Each team consists of a maximum of four players, so to have two of them navigate the field of 701 entries to end up heads-up is a remarkable feat. However, while the valuable points they earned for their team resulted in some extra cash, it must have felt like just a bonus to the gargantuan sums they walked away with in the Main Event, with Suhonen’s runner-up performance netting him a not-too-shabby €83,400.
Meanwhile, Greek player Enea Subashi took home the third-largest share of the €658,940 prize pool, with the €55,200 bronze medal tripling his total live earnings. Ukrainians Vasyl Laba and Serhii Leonov completed the top five, both hauling career-best scores as well.

6 | Aku-Oskari Uotila | Finland | €22,540 |

Day 4 Action
With the final nine returning to the table with an average stack of 60 big blinds, it was no surprise that the day started slowly. In fact, two levels went by without any eliminations, and not much had changed when the first break had been reached. Start-of-day chip leader Leonov still sat at the top, while short stacks Subashi and Simon Hassan remained at the bottom.
After the break, the fireworks finally kicked off. Hassan was the first to be eliminated when he got his top pair in against Subashi on the turn. Subashi had the same pair but rivered two pair to provide a sour exit in ninth for Hassan. About an hour later, Estonia’s last hope Ruslan Stserbjuk got his chips in preflop with kings. He was up against the ace-king of Suhonen in a huge cooler. Suhonen spiked an ace on the flop to take down the pot, take over the chip lead, and eliminate Stserbjuk in eighth.
Stserbjuk’s exit may have been sour, but it paled in comparison to Daniel Clifford’s. Clifford had made a full house on the river and shoved in all of his chips. However, Suhonen had made a straight flush on the turn, knocking out the disillusioned Clifford in eighth place. Aku-Oskari Uotila was next in line to get coolered by Suhonen. He had rivered jacks full of aces but Suhonen had the last jack in his hand and eliminated his fellow countryman in sixth.
At that point, Suhonen had created a huge gap between him and Subashi in second place. Subashi closed the gap a bit by eliminating Leonov in fifth place with jacks against tens, only to see Suhonen knock out Laba in fourth in a preflop flip not much later, undoing his gains.
Short-Handed Play
Three-handed play lasted for two hours. It was here where Subashi, who had been relatively quiet up until that point, unleashed relentless aggression upon his two Finnish opponents, netting him a sizable chip lead. However, as he lived by the sword, he would die by the sword. After pulling off several successful bluffs, Subashi fired three streets with ace-high against Suhonen. Suhonen called down with top pair to reclaim his lead.
Not much later, Subashi called down with top pair against Suhonen’s trips, leaving him with just ten big blinds. After a few orbits, he committed those to the middle and lost them to his nemesis as well.
By knocking out Subashi in third place, Suhonen started the heads-up match with a gigantic chip advantage. He had nearly 18 million chips at his disposal while Siljander was stuck with three million. However, Siljander quickly doubled up with a flush against a straight, after which he won the majority of pots to balance the chip counts evenly.
After some back-and-forth, Siljander finally created a gap with Suhonen when he called his triple barrel bluff with two pair. Suhonen started to mount a comeback from his one-to-four disadvantage, but ultimately the tournament ended like so many others: the players got it in the middle in a preflop flip. Siljander’s ace-king made top pair against Suhonen’s pocket tens, crowning him the Kings of Tallinn: Autumn Edition Main Event champion.
That concludes the live coverage of Kings of Tallinn: Autumn edition. However, the organization of renowned tournament series has more in store in the near future.
The Kings are stepping foot outside Estonia for the very first time as Kings of Vilnius takes place in the Lithuanian capital from November 15 to November 24, with a €250,000 guarantee Main Event.
Next up is the ladies-only Queens of Tallinn. After a successful first edition last year, the event returns to Olympic Park Casino from November 28 to December 1.
Last, but certainly not least, is the 10th Anniversary of Kings of Tallinn, which is already confirmed for February 21 to March 2 at the same Olympic Park Casino. The schedule is not yet known, but no doubt that more information will be made public soon.
Stay tuned for information and coverage of all the events above as the enthusiastic Baltic and Scandinavian poker scenes never rest.

Joel Haapio Comes From Behind to Win the €555 NLH Championship
“Never give up,” and “a chip and a chair.” Phrases every poker player has heard at some point at the tables, but sometimes a situation looks dire enough to throw them into the wind. However, today, Joel Haapio proved that there is truth to the common statements. Haapio was down to a ten-to-one chip disadvantage at one point in the heads-up battle for the Kings of Tallinn: Autumn Edition €555 Championship, but ultimately persevered over Rasmus Lundstrom to take home the trophy and a career-best score of €47,560.
Meanwhile, Lundstrom limited the damage as he walked away with €41,200, also a record-setting score for him, as the players had made a heads-up deal when Lundstrom started the heads-up with a small chip advantage. Turkey’s Koray Korkmaz took home the bronze medal and added €24,500 to his seven-figure live earnings, while €5,000 Progressive Bounty runner-up Justas Vaiciulionis and Finnish grinder Tommi Lankinen also made an appearance at the final table.

Day 3 Action
At the start of Day 3, only 16 of the 583 entries returned to Olympic Park Casino to divide the lion’s share of the €274,010 prize pool and determine who would walk away the champion. Estonian Powerhouses Tarmo Tammel and Igor Pihela Sr. started the day short and were quickly dispatched off in 16th and 14th place, earning €2,700 and €3,100 respectively.
The entertaining Timo Ruuska’s (12th – €3,550) fate was ultimately decided by a dice roll as that is how he decided to call off against Vaiciulionis’ flush. Ultimately, Finnish regular Juho Suutari ended up as the final table bubble boy, also eliminated by Vaiciulionis.
Lundstrom came into the third day as a massive chip leader, but Korkmaz had worked his way up the rankings throughout the first two and a half hours of poker and started the final table with a slight edge.
Two ladies were still in contention when the final table got underway. Hanna Heinlo and Kristiana Stauere had been short throughout the later stages of Day 2 and the entirety of Day 3, but managed to climb the pay-jump ladder all the way to the final table. That is where their story ended, however, as Heinlo, Estonia’s last hope, ended in ninth place while Stauere got her final ladder to eighth.
While Korkmaz and Lundstrom were busy battling for the chip lead, Vaiciulionis knocked out Lankinen in seventh. Six-handed play then continued for a while, and the stacks ended up relatively even at the first break of the final table.
However, Lundstrom soon pulled away from the pack again as he eliminated Thanh Doan in sixth place and not long after Vaiciulionis in fifth. Korkmaz joined him atop the counts by knocking out Algirdas Saveikis in fourth place, leaving Haapio as the absolute short stack three-handed.
Korkmaz’s stay at the top would be short-lived, however, as Lundstrom hero-called his bluff with bottom pair before Haapio eliminated him not much later. The two Finns then agreed to a deal heads-up, leaving €8,000 and the trophy to play for.
Heads-Up Play
Lundstrom started the heads-up with a slight chip advantage and soon pulled away further as every pot seemed to head in his direction. A pattern occurred where Lundstrom had Haapio on the ropes and Haapio doubled up to stay in contention. In fact, Haapio won four at-risk all-ins until he finally had the chip advantage.
Finally, Haapio had Lundstrum at risk with pocket deuces against ace-deuce. The board remained free of any aces, and Haapio’s rail rushed toward him. They embraced him in an emotional spectacle. He hoisted the trophy before cashing out his best-ever score and heading into the night to celebrate.

Many more are expected to join the action when it resumes on Monday at Noon for the second and final day, with late registration remaining open during the first two blind levels of the day. Finland’s Miika Toyras (214,000) and Poland’s Bartosz Wesolek (207,500) were the only two players to catapult their 30,000 opening stacks into more than 200,000 in chips during the opening flights.
Meanwhile, 31 entries entered the two-day Event #12: €2,000 NLH Progressive Bounty, with the final five players battling it out for their share of the €53,909 prize pool, which includes €24,800 in progressive bounties. The first day of the two-day Event #14: €250 HORSE attracted 51 entries for a €10,546 prize pool, with the final six players returning on Monday to compete for €3,537 top prize with already a €640 min-cash locked up.
