Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 Open de France at Le Golf National

Golf OlyBet 08.10.2024

The countdown is on for the start of a new edition of the French Open, the oldest golf tournament in continental Europe, which will celebrate its 106th edition in 2024. Since its founding in 1906, the tournament has gained prestige, becoming one of the most important events in the golfing world.

With Japanese golfer Ryo Hisatsune defending his title from last season, where he also bagged a hefty prize of €3,250,000, Paris is expected to be a key date for many golfers looking to qualify for the end-of-season Playoffs, as it holds a privileged position in the new Back 9 of the DP World Tour.

Dates and venue of the tournament

The French Open will take place from October 10 to 13, 2024, in France, at Le Golf National, very close to Paris. The tournament has been held there since 1991, except in 1999 and 2001 when it changed locations. It’s an exceptional venue that hosted the Ryder Cup in 2018 and was also the site of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Since the tournament’s inception in 1906, it has been held at 16 different venues. From its beginnings in Versailles at the famous La Boulie course to its current home at Le Golf National, it has passed through places like Lyon, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and Saint-Cloud.

Participants and Final Phase

Once again, the tournament is gaining momentum, and more golfers are eager to participate. Hundreds will compete to qualify for the Playoffs and aim to win the Paris title, along with the €3,000,000 prize for the champion.

Spanish golfers Alfredo García-Heredia, Angel Hidalgo, Adrián Otaegui, Jorge Campillo, Adri Arnaus, Santiago Tarrio, Alejandro del Rey, and Rafa Cabrera are some of the Spaniards who will be present in this new edition after competing in London, Scotland, and Madrid in recent weeks.

As we enter the final stretch of the season, every tournament counts. After France, golfers will travel to Spain for the Andalucía Masters, then head to South Korea before competing in Abu Dhabi for the DP World Tour Playoffs from November 7 to 10, and in Dubai from November 14 to 17 for the crown jewel, the DP World Tour Championship.
