Krasovskis & Kuzmicius Wins Titles on Opening Day of OlyBet Vilnius Showdown Jacks of June

Poker Jason Glazer 02.06.2024

Once again, Vilnius became the poker hub of the Baltics and Scandinavian countries with the inaugural OlyBet Vilnius Showdown. The festival boasts 31 action-packed events and nonstop cash game action for nine days from June 1-9 at the heart of the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius at Olympic Casino Vilnius.

Thanks to the amazing weather, it is the perfect time of year to visit Lithuania. The casino is conveniently located next to one of the more relaxing areas in town, next to the river, and a short walk to the Lithuanian capital’s historic Old Town.

Latvia’s Andrejs Krasovskis and Lithuania’s Vitalijus Kuzmicius both won titles on the opening day, while many others enjoyed the two-day action in the €50,000 guaranteed €350 Progressive Bounty Warm-Up led by Lithuania’s Zydrunas Karcemarskas. This was in addition to a €30 satellite to the €555 Main Event, which boasts a healthy €150,000 guarantee from June 4-7.

Read on to learn more about the opening day of the 2024 OlyBet Vilnius Showdown Jacks of June at Olympic Casino Vilnius.

Andrejs Krasovskis Wins €150 Pot Limit Omaha 5

Five-card pot-limit Omaha enthusiasts had the first crack at a trophy during the OlyBet Vilnius Showdown Jacks of June, with 30 entries getting into the mix to create a €3,744 prize pool.

It appeared likely that the trophy would remain in Lithuania, as by the time the final five players reached the money, only one was from another country in Latvia’s Andrejs Krasovskis.

However, Krasovskis came out on top after the four Lithuanians, Mindaugas Razmas, Genadijus Nagula, Ernest Stepanov, and Andrej Michailov, all hit the rail one-by-one to win the first trophy of the festival and the €1,334 top prize.

Vitalijus Kuzmicius Wins €150 Saturday Express

Event #4: €150 Saturday Express witnessed 52 entries creating a €6,594 prize pool including €2,600 in bounties. The trophy was guaranteed to stay home in Event #3: €150 Saturday Express after Denmark’s Mathies Boesen hit the rail in fourth place leaving three Lithuanians battling it out for Jacks of June glory.

After Julius Grieze hit the rail, Vitalijus Kuzmicius defeated Tadas Gencerauskas heads-up to win the €1,274 top prize plus any bounties collected along the way.

Three other Lithuanians managed to make the money including Arunas Justeikas, Simonas Kersulis, and Donatas Kuliesa.

Karcemarskas Leads Value-Added Warm-Up

The two-day Event #1: €350 Progressive Bounty Warm-Up provided a bit of value to the players. Despite the amazing turnout of 143 players for the opening event, players will be able to enjoy nearly €5,000 in overlay thanks to the tasty €50,000 guarantee slapped on this event.

Zydrunas Karcemarskas bagged the overnight chip lead after parlaying his 25,000 opening stack into a massive pile of 298,000 in chips. Denmark’s Steen Hillestroem and the Lithuanian duo of Gerardas Luksenas and Arturas Dauksevic also bagged more than 300,000, with Aurimas Bielskas rounding out the top five with a chip less than this milestone.

The top 17 players in this event will go home with at least a €590 prize, with players hoping for a chance to earn much more. The top two spots each award a €7,290 top prize. However, the winner will earn much more than that as the €100 progressive bounties will have added up by then, with the winner collecting both their bounty and that of the runner-up.
