The action on Wednesday was electric at Olympic Casino Lietuva, located in the heart of the majestic Lithuanian capital of Vilnius with players battling in the final two opening flights OlyBet Showdown Vilnius Ace Breaker €555 Main Event in hopes of securing a massive stack heading into Thursday’s Day 2.

Latvia’s Aigars Petrovs performed the best in the Main Event as during Day 1b he continued to pile up chips before ending the day with a massive chip lead heading into Day 2.

Meanwhile, Vilius Zamzickas earned a trophy for his display case after winning the €150 NLH Win the Button Progressive Knockout.

Read on to learn more about what transpired on Wednesday:

Petrovs Stands Alone to Start Day 2 of Main Event

The Lithuanian poker community is hungry to keep the Vilnius Ace Breaker Main Event title in its home country. Several players will have their voices heard on the matter, especially Latvia’s Aigars Petrovs, who easily will start Day 2 with the chip lead after amassing a whopping 427,000 in chips from his opening stack of 30,000.

The distance is clear between him and the rest of the field but things can change quickly during the final two days. Not only did no other player bag more than 400,000, but Petrovs was also the only player above 300,000 in chips. However, several players, each waving the Lithuanian flag, advanced with more than 200,000 including Day 1a chip leader Aurimas Stanevicius (270,500), Aurelijus Sipavicius (259,000), Marek Zigel (251,000), Paulius Vaitiekunas (245,500), Edgaras Truskauskas (238,000), Mantas Nanartavicius (235,000), Paulius Zilinskas (228,000), Kasparas Klezys (214,000), and Erikas Laugzemys.

The Main Event attracted 345 entries during the three opening flights with 103 players advancing to Day 2. More players are expected with late registration open during the first blind level of Day 2.

Day 2 begins on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. The structure will be even deeper than the opening flights with nine one-hour blind levels schedule. You can follow along with the action in our dedicated blog at OlyBet.tv once cards are in the air.

Zamzickas Earns Trophy in Win the Button

It wasn’t enough for Aigars Petrovs to bag the overnight chip lead in the Main Event, as he also entered the late-night Event #15: €150 NLH Win the Button Progressive Knockout. Petrovs may have earned some bounties, but ended his night in disappointment as he finished in seventh place on the money bubble among the 49-entry field.

Meanwhile, Vilius Zamzickas had reason to sleep with a smile on his face as he defeated Mindaugas Satkauskas heads-up to earn the trophy. Both players collected the €910 top prize from the prize pool, however, Zamzickas made out a bit better thanks to the massive bounties collected during the end game.
