The 2023 Kings of Tallinn schedule highlighted by €500K Main Event

Get ready to rumble as the Kings of Tallinn will make its triumphant return to the luxurious Olympic Park Casino and the adjoining world-class Hilton Tallinn Park on February 23 to March 5. Players will come from far and near to join what is known since its inception in 2015 as the largest poker festival in Northern Europe for what promises to be the most robust poker event of the year in the region.

The schedule, designed by the famous tournament director and founder of the Kings of Tallinn Teresa Nousiainen, features something for everyone with 53 action-packed events with buy-ins ranging from €60 to €3,000. Some of the satellites are absolutely free to enter. In addition, the schedule boasts many formats, including the popular No-Limit Hold’em, various pot-limit Omaha structures, 8-game, Sviten Special, Open Face Chinese Pineapple, Soko, and more.

The highlight of the festival is easily the Kings of Tallinn €1,100 Main Event as it boasts a whopping €500,000 guarantee! Many players have already qualified for the Kings of Tallinn Main Event and other events on the schedule either through the OlyBet Holiday Special hosted in Tallinn at the end of 2022, live satellites at various Olympic Casino venues around Europe, and online at OlyBet Poker and GGPoker in select markets.

There are also some brand-new events to get your mouth watering, including the unique €150 GGPoker Flip&Go Mystery Bounty on Feb. 27 to March 3, with a €5,000 top bounty guaranteed.

€500K GTD Main Event

For the second time in Kings of Tallinn history, the Kings of Tallinn Main Event boasts a whopping €500,000 guarantee for a €1,100 buy-in.

The first time was just before the COVID pandemic began in February 2020 when Sweden’s Johan Karlsson was the star of the show by winning the coveted trophy along with a massive €126,900 top prize after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Estonia’s Ermo Kosk. The €500,000 guarantee proved to be merely a placeholder with the field eventually attracting 674 entries to create a €640,300 prize pool.

The Main Event is one of the best-structured events to be found. This flagship tourney boasts three opening flights on March 1-2. Players start with a deep-stack of 30,000 in chips and blind increase slowly throughout the event with the only exception being Day 1c, which boasts healthy 30-minute blind levels.

Surviving players after eight blind levels from opening flights will join others who get into the action before late registration closes after the first blind level of Day 2 for three more days of action on March 3-5 until the latest Kings of Tallinn Main Event winner is crowned.

Kings of Tallinn Main Event History

Local Estonian poker hero Ranno Sootla kicked things off back in 2015 with an epic victory worth €37,330. Back then, the field was just 140 entries but from there grew in leaps and bounds. Other previous winners include Johan Cruetz, Matias Knaapinen, WSOP bracelet winner Juha Helppi, WPT champion Vitalis Zavarotnijs, Johan Karlsson, and last year’s champion Adam Kharman.

Team Competition Adds Excitement

The Kings of Tallinn always creates tons of excitement thanks to the robust tournament schedule, cash games around the clock, the helpful and knowledgeable staff, and the family feeling of the entire festival.

The Team Competition is yet another big reason that the Kings of Tallinn is on many players’ calendars, as there are rails for just about every event with teammates rooting each other to victory.

Players form teams of four and enter them on the Kings of Tallinn website. Some teams in the past have battled it out at the Kings of Tallinn with team t-shirts.

Don’t worry if you come alone and have yet to meet enough people to form a team, as our staff will help you get on a team. Who knows, this could be a way to make some friends for life.

The Team Competition is absolutely free to enter and is funded with 2% of the prize pools of qualifying events. The top two teams will be in the money, with 75% of the prize pool to be awarded to the winning team and the remaining 25% to the runner-up team. The winning team is expected to be awarded a huge prize of approximately €20,000!

“The schedule is built so that one can play the Main Event daytime and hop into evening events from 21:00 onwards,” shared Nousiainen. “This was a request by our players, and it works great for the Team Challenge. Form a poker team of four players, come up with a fun name for the team, and start collecting points! Every time a player cashes from a Kings Of Tallinn tournament, he/ she collects points for the team! Satellites and the Ladies Event excluded. Players also get one team point for playing any of the events.”
